In 1970, AIG Insurance expanded its business to the Asia-Pacific and started trading in Australia. AIG further established a formal presence in Australia in 2003 by opening a Sydney office.

In June 2009 AIG Insurance undertook a huge rebranding initiative, changing their brand from AIG Life to AIA.

This trading name change and rebranding exercise was executed to align the new AIA Insurance brand with the rest of AIA Group across Asia.

AIG Income Protection

The new AIG Insurance, now called AIA Insurance still offers life insurance, income protection insurance, and trauma insurance. Both brands, AIG Insurance and AIA Insurance still hold respect in the life insurance industry and with Australian consumers.
